SOFT TISSUE THERAPY & SPORTS MASSAGE

Advice and treatment of injuries involving soft tissue therapy and sports massage as part of the rehabilitation process. Corrective exercises are also likely to be given to speed up recovery.

Helping reduce pain and injury recovery time

Sports massage can be used to aid recovery after an event or hard training session. Equally it can be used to prepare the body prior to an event.

Some of the techniques used are:

  • Muscle Energy Techniques (MET) a neuromuscular technique encouraging muscles to return to pre-traumatised length hence improving range of movement.
  • Soft Tissue Release (STR) by applying direct pressure to soft tissue and stretching the muscle reducing adhesions and improving circulation to the area.
  • Neuro Muscular Therapy (NMT) applying deep pressure to soft tissue to encourage release within the tissue. Often applied to what feel like ‘knots’.
  • Effleurage and Petrissage. Gentle massage strokes used to warm muscle before deep tissue work.

All techniques improve blood flow and help repair damaged soft tissue.
